What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can be described as reaching a heightened state of awareness using relaxation and applies therapeutic interventions directly to the subconscious mind rather than the conscious mind.
Due to the nature of it’s ‘instant accessibility’ hypnotherapy is becoming increasingly shown to be more efficient than traditional therapy techniques.

Zimberoff writes:
“Each unhealthy current behaviour, such as smoking, losing one’s temper, excessive alcohol consumption, or compulsive overeating has a chain of events that laid the foundation for all of our current unhealthy choices. Through the ‘memory chip’ that has been laid down in the subconscious mind, we can trace back the experiences and subconscious decisions we made as children that may be leading us to the behaviour that is no longer healthy for us.”

It’s possible to be addicted to almost anything. These can include:

  • Nicotine
  • Solvents
  • Drugs
  • Gambling
  • Alcohol
  • Food
  • There the Internet
  • Mobile Phone
  • Work
  • Shopping

Almost anything we are doing too much of can cause us an unhealthy obsession.
The feelings that we get when we indulge in addictions  can be enjoyable and they create a very powerful urge for us to do it again which then  can develop into to a habit which can be hard to stop.
Managing a addiction can really affect your work life and relationships. An addiction can be a way of blocking out difficult issues and can affect the way our brains function and may make us behave irrationally and sometimes aggressively.
Hypnotherapy can help you recovery and help you address these issues enabling you to be addition free.

I have been recently fortunate to have hypnotherapy with Kim. I had been experiencing acute anxiety due to an exam I was needing to resit. I sat and cried at the first exam but with Kim’s help I was able to walk in with a smile and, despite not knowing all the answers, I was able to control my anxiety! She helped to give me the confidence I desperately needed and, for anyone who knows me, this is a GREAT step forward. I can’t recommend Kim highly enough!

Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based mental and physical health treatment technique. I can help you explore your subconscious mind to discover what is going on for your in a safe, caring and professional environment

I am a GQHP Clinical Hypnotherapist.
